About StudKon
It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the 8th Conference of Natural Sciences and Technical PhD Study Programmes (StudKon 2026). The conference mission is to allow early-career researchers to present their results and practice presentation skills on related topics in front of a scientific audience. As in previous events, the active participation of PhD students from the Faculty of Environment (FŽP) and the Faculty of Science (PřF) at UJEP is expected. Doctoral students from other faculties, such as the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FSI), and students from the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry CAS (IIC), Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems (Fraunhofer IKTS, Dresden, Germany) and the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava (UCM Slovakia) are welcome. Members of the PhD councils, supervisors, consultants other experts, undergraduate students and early-career researchers are all welcome to attend.
Topics cover emerging scientific fields such as preparation and characterization of (nano)materials and their applications, green and sustainable chemistry, chemical and physical modifications of materials, chemistry and physics of materials, environmental and analytical chemistry, phytoremediation and biotechnology, modelling in chemistry, physics and materials, materials for energy applications, and other related topics to chemistry and physics. Topics for landscape reclamation, such as anthropogenic influence on the landscape, ecosystem services, human impact and climate change, the soil environment and brownfields and their remediation, and sustainability, are welcome as well. The list of the PhD participants and titles of their contributions will be specified later.
Who can contribute?
Active contribution as a talk or poster: Any PhD student from FŽP, PřF, FSI, IIC, IKTS and UCM. For PhD students from the Faculty of Environment, the StudKon event is a compulsory part of their PhD. study. The final type of contribution will be selected and confirmed by the organizing committee.
Participation by the general audience: Members of doctoral councils, supervisors, consultants, academic staff, postdocs, absolvents and other experts are all cordially invited to attend the event and support our doctoral students in promoting their research. Accompanied program and Competition
Traditionally, the Miroslav Broul Prize for the best students will be awarded. An informal social evening in Pajda bistro will take place after the conference – the social event is paid by the organizers.
Guidelines for authors
The conference, including talk and poster sessions, is held in English. We strongly recommend consulting your presentation/poster with your supervisor and/or consultant(s). First-year students should primarily present the vision, strategy and goals of their ambitious projects as well as preliminary results. Students in advanced years should present comprehensive work, including mainly original results and the progress of their research.
Talk. The time allowance is 15 minutes + 5 minutes for discussion. We ask that you send the presentation to the organizers before the StudKon event (contact person is David Žižka – see contact below). In emergencies, the presentation may also be uploaded before the talk sessions or during the coffee break. Please, provide the presentation in PowerPoint format only.
Poster presentations. The poster should be in portrait oriented A0 format. Poster holders will be available all day. Authors should hang their posters well in advance of the session. We would like to offer free printing of the posters on our plotter located at the Faculty of Environment. If you want to take advantage of this offer, please send or bring the poster by 18 May, 2026 to David Žižka (see contact below). If the poster is submitted later, printing will not be arranged. Posters will be printed out in bulk print for economical printing. The poster should be submitted in A0 format and in PDF format. Please try to remove any background colors.
David Žižka is person in charge for the submission of your presentations and posters as well as their printing. Email: david.zizka@ujep.cz; phone: +420 725 540 655; you can also bring your presentation/poster in person to the office 5.03 but we recommend contact him before you come. David Žižka is usually available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. If he is not available you can in an emergency bring the presentation to Daniel Bůžek (office 5.09). Please, respect the deadline for poster submission if you want to free printing of them. It will be also helpful if you submit you PowerPoint presentation in advanced before the StudKon (few days before is enough).
Miroslav Broul Prize. The conference will also include a competition for the best talk and posters. The committee, composed of members of the PhD councils and other invited experts, will evaluate the scientific level and originality of the work as well as the students’ contribution and their abilities to engage with the audience and to defend their work during scientific discussion. The committee will also take into account the student’s year of study. First-year students, who will mostly present the vision, strategy and goals of their ambitious projects can win over research-oriented presentation of older colleagues. The first three places in both sessions will receive financial reward. For more information about the prize see attached document.
